Why this site exists
There are hundreds of AI tools launching every month. Most review sites rank by affiliate commission, not by actual quality. We got tired of reading "this tool is amazing" only to find it couldn't do the one thing we needed.
So we started AI Pickz — guides built from official docs, pricing pages, and real community reports, with clear verdicts for specific use cases. When I run hands-on spot-checks or longer tests, the article says so.
How we build guides
- Official sources first. Pricing and feature claims are checked against vendor docs on the publish date.
- Community reality check. Reddit, HN, GitHub issues, and practitioner threads — with dates, not vibes.
- Spot-checks when it helps. Same prompt, two tools, side by side — only where a live comparison adds value.
- Deep tests are rare and labeled. Multi-day hands-on use happens on select tools, not every roundup.

About the reviewer
Alex writes AI Pickz in the first person. Before this site, he worked in product and engineering — the same lens he uses now: does the tool actually fit the workflow, at the price, today? Most articles are synthesis guides; hands-on sections are explicit when they exist. No sponsored posts, no pay-for-placement. If a tool has flaws, I name them.
Alex covers AI writing, coding assistants, image and video generation, voice tools, and productivity software. He does not accept payment for coverage and does not remove honest criticism from reviews.
